Central point between the different Périgord
A landscape of rolling hills, cliffs and limestone plateaus, the Périgord Blanc joins the Corrèze and the Gironde in the centre of the Dordogne from east to west.
In the middle is Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne, with over 2000 years of history. Périgueux is the major centre of interest in the Périgord Blanc. With its medieval quarter and its Gallo-Roman remains, Périgueux attracts people looking for authenticity and history. But it also attracts gourmets and organic enthusiasts thanks to its markets of small local producers. For music lovers, the New Orleans Music Festival in Périgueux (MNOP) is for you. From mid-July onwards, it makes the Périgord Blanc dance and vibrate from Périgueux to Sorges and this until the end of July and in many other places. Ask for the programme…!!!
Its surroundings will suit lovers of bucolic and rural spaces, with the Isle Valley to the west for lovers of sporting excursions by canoe, kayak or bicycle.
And to the east, the limestone Causse will suit gourmets better. And yes, we are in truffle country. Go for a walk in Sorge, the truffle capital.
After all this physical effort and spiritual nourishment, it is time to think about resting and having a good meal.
